Almont - Harmel's Ranch Resort Harmel's Ranch Resort is a family owned and operated dude ranch located near Almont, in southwestern Colorado. Our altitude is 8,412 feet which makes our summer weather unbeatable! Harmel's has 37 cabins and can sleep up to 150 guests comforatably. Nineteen of our cabins have kitchenettes. All 37 have a frige and a coffee maker. Each cabin is strategically located either along the river, in a grove of trees, or around a central location. We offer 3 different plans to choose from; Run of the Ranch (RR) approx $215/person/night, American Plan (AP) approx $135/person/night, and Fisherman's Holiday (FH) approx $95/person/night. The rate greatly depends on how many people you have per cabin. For example; if you have 3 people in a cabin that normally sleeps 6 your rate would be higher. However; if you have 4 people in a cabin that normally sleeps 4 your rate would be lower. Each plan has different rates because each one offers a different package. RR package with your accommodations includes 3 meals per day, almost all of our activities, and the biggest discounts. AP package with your accommodations includes 3 meals per day and the children's program for kids 4 and up. FH package with your accommodations includes breakfast and cookouts on Monday and Thursday (cookouts only available during the height of our season). Our cabins sleep from 2 to 9 people per unit. Please see our Rates page on www.harmels.com for more information. We have a lot of great activities to enjoy! Fantastic horseback riding program including lessons, 1 hr rides, 2 hr rides, half-day rides, all-day rides, and overnight pack trips. Beginner, intermediate and advance riders welcome. We ride into the Gunnison National Forest and the views are breath taking! Harmel's offers incredible fly fishing with no guides required. However, we do offer instruction, guided trips, and rentals of rods, waders and boots. The Taylor River runs through our property and has Spring Creek and Beaver Creek flowing into it, right on our ranch. For our part of the Taylor we have stocked rainbows, browns, brookies, cutthroat, steelhead hybrids, and cutbows. Harmel's has done extensive rock work to improve the habitat and we stock the river, creek, and our kid's pond every spring. Adventurous and mild whitewater rafting in class II or class III waters gives everyone a chance to raft. Therapeutic massage is also available at Harmel's. Our therapists can really help you relax after a long horseback ride! Rock climbing is available and designed for beginners. Advanced climbers are more than welcome. This all takes place at the rock outcropping (not like one of the climbing walls you see in the mall) within a five minute walk. Sign up for a hayride that takes you through our beautiful ranch and ends at the campfire so you can roast marshmallows for s'mores and listen to the band play. Our Western Gourmet Dining is something we love to brag about! You are seated at your own individual table and waited on by our gracious staff. Our dining room has a great view of the Taylor River. The newly remodeled and expanded Fire Pit deck off of the back of the dining room has a dozen or more hummingbird feeders (wear red clothing and bring your camera!) and access to the river. At the all-you-can-eat cookouts are on Mondays (steak and crab legs dinner) and Thursdays (Texas BBQ chicken and ribs dinner) we have square-dancing, polka, cowboy poetry, or bluegrass music. Live family entertainment offered everynight of the week! Harmels' facilities include our recreation room, sundry and gift store, well-stocked fly shop, outdoor heated swimming pool, six-man hot tub, cedar lined sauna, Fort Harmel teepee village and playground, grassy volleyball area, horseshoe pits, and our gorgeous Riverwalk along the Taylor River.
